  • Welcome to Pretium's ADEPT program

    This program aims to increase awareness of the rate of incorrect inhaler technique and its impact on patient outcomes. The program will provide evidenced based education on correct inhaler technique of prescribed asthma preventer inhalers. Necessary tools will be provided to assess patients on inhaler technique, in order to improve patient outcomes.

    This is an opportunity for GPs to gain up to 40 QI&CPD  (Category 1) RACGP points.

    Learning outcomes:

    o Describe the rate of sub-optimal inhaler technique in adult patients with asthma

    o Discuss the impact of incorrect inhaler technique on patient outcomes

    o Outline the importance of choosing a suitable inhaler device and its impact on drug delivery

    o Summarise the features of four asthma inhalers (Accuhaler®, Ellipta®, MDI, Turbuhaler®) and their operation

    o Demonstrate the steps in the correct use of the above four asthma inhalers

    o Implement the use of a checklist in practice to assess device inhaler technique of adult patients with asthma
